Computational Electromagnetic

Novel wireless systems require novel antennas, which necessitate complex simulations. The ARC Group utilizes decades in Finite-Difference Time-Domain experience to develop next generation solvers and methodologies to enable such complex electromagnetic problems to be analyzed. Furthermore, due to the growing high frequency and wideband needs of society, the simulation domains become very large. Without acceleration, such simulations would be unfeasible. The group specializes in adapting multi-CPU and multi-GPU techniques on consumer hardware (Intel i7 and Nvidia GTX/RTX) to put these simulations in the realm of the feasible. The goals of these simulations are not limited to only antenna designs, but also include verifying methodologies for detecting cancers using wireless signals, evaluating the impact a wireless transmitter would have on different parts of the human body, and how wireless signals are affected by environments such as mines or drill-shafts.
